I had friends at Georgetown who got way better grades than me, and haven't gotten in anywhere yet. Last piece of advice: At the end of the day, there is luck involved. I applied during the SMP program, and got into a top 100 MD program.ĭo community volunteer work, Medical schools love this. When I first applied, I applied to 19 schools and didn't get a single interview. I took the Georgetown SMP program because my GPA was a 3.0, which was great. I tried to keep my full time job while studying, I don't recommend this. I also have ADHD, and qualified for extra time, so if you have questions about this, feel free to reach out. Sunday I only did Anki, then relaxed for the rest of the day. Monday through Saturday, pretty much studied from when I woke up, to when I went to bed, with meal and bathroom breaks in between. I either read to quickly, jumped to an answer choice without reading all the options (the MCAT loves to do this), or I didn't know the material as well as I thought I did. After a while I stated to notice patterns. Kept a list of everything I got wrong, what the subject was, and why I got it wrong. I never took Biochem, so I had to teach it to myself from scratch. This is a score separator, so just be prepared for it, and use process of elimination by seeing which answer is substantially different from the other answers choices. You will come across terms that's not covered in any of the practice material. Psych/Soc: This is definition heavy, so anki is your go to for this section. I practiced at least 3 passages every day.īio/Biochem: Same thing as Chem/Phys, but I relied more on Khan Academy to teach me. I scored a 132 on the last aamc practice test right before the real thing. I could score anywhere from a 124 to a 132. My MCAT was organic chem heavy, and the subreddit was full of people bitching about it later that day.ĬARS: THE BANE OF MY EXISTANCE!!! My score fluctuated all over the place. I really like freelance-teacher for physics because he is really thorough at explaining things. I turned the stuff in examkrackers into anki cards so it would stay fresh in my mind. Used mainly next step and examkrackers 1001 (old version), with some kaplan to practice. Here is how I studied:Ĭhem/Phys: Used Khan Academy and to teach me the material. You're on the right track just by being here. The only reason why I passed the MCAT is because of this subreddit. I just completed my first half of M1, and thought I'd use my time to help others in the same position I was at one point. /r/GAMSAT - Australian & UK Medical school Admission Test.P/S = Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior (Tentative) AAMC Sample FL Score ConversionĬ/P = Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological SystemsĬARS = Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skillsī/B = Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems # Correct -> Scaled Score Converter for AAMC Material These posts will be removed and the user banned without warning, subject to the discretion of the mod team Learn MoreĪll of the above rules are subject to moderator discretion High Yield MCAT Links You have signed an examinee agreement, and it will be enforced on this subreddit.ĭo not intentionally advertise paid or free products or services of any sort.
